I'm Leland Knox. I spent thirty years being treated for depression, anxiety, and other labels that never quite fit.
First medicated as a teenager for what they called social phobia. Diagnosed with depression more than once after that. On and off antidepressants for most of my adult life. Plenty of appointments. Plenty of prescriptions. Plenty of labels.

Two years ago the tension headache I had been carrying since I was fifteen got bad enough that I sat down and started reading instead of pushing through. I recognized the pattern on paper for the first time.
A neurologist-psychiatrist confirmed what I had found. For the first time in my adult life the thing I had been carrying for three decades had a name.
